Kekova is the name given to a beautiful, sheltered stretch of the Turkish coast enclosed by Kekova Island. It is located in the Kas district of Antalya province. Kekova is categorised as an area of archeological interest and hence, is a completely undeveloped paradise as building is not allowed. Kaleköy dates back to Lycian and Ottoman times. It is a small village with partly sunken ruins, many tombs and a fascinating castle. Access to the village is possible only by foot or by boat.
Üçagiz is accessible by road and is one km from Kaleköy, with the ruins of Teimioussa to the east. Despite an influx of day tourists, the village still remains relatively unspoilt.
Most people visit the region on a day trip which usually means only spending one hour exploring the area - certainly not enough to enjoy the peace and quiet in this beautiful place! Both villages offer a rare glimpse of traditional village life and an opportunity to relax in totally unspoilt surroundings. tourism Kekova Ucagiz Simena Turkey Lycian village countryside Likya holiday boat tours Uçagiz Kaleköy peaceful way sea remote pension restaurant © kekova nokta biz This page last modified on March 20th 2009 Kekova Island - Simena the sunken city with beautiful scenery, a stunning place.
